Smoking and Plastic Surgery

Smoking and Plastic Surgery FAQs

Do I need to stop smoking cigarettes before cosmetic surgery?

Answer: Nicotine use increases the risk of infection and poor wound healing. One cigarette remains in the body for 18 hours. It takes four weeks prior to a plastic surgery procedure to allow the blood vessels to "heal" and four weeks after surgery.
