Insurance Coverage

What will my insurance cover for cosmetic plastic surgery?

Answer: In most cases, no. Your insurance will only cover procedures that they feel are medically necessary. Health insurance generally covers the cost of reconstructive procedures, but usually will not cover purely cosmetic procedures. Since individual insurance policies vary, our office will contact the patient's insurance carrier for a predetermination of his or her benefits if the doctor feels it is medically necessary. When appropriate, we will file insurance claims for services rendered. In some cases, insurance will cover breast reductions and panniculectomies; however, you will need to show a medical need for the surgery.
