Breast Augmentation: Are You Ready?
As the seasons change, you may be looking for a change as well. Maybe you have thought about breast augmentation for a while....maybe you just recently thought about it. While your reasons for wanting to undergo breast augmentation are unique and personal, you are not alone. Augmentation mammoplasty, breast implant surgery, remains one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries performed in the United States.
Reasons for Breast Augmentation and Achieving Your Goals
Many women experience dissatisfaction with their breast size, symmetry, and/or shape. Dr. Grasee and Dr. Bergman realize that this dissatisfaction can affect not only a woman's appearance, but also her self confidence. At Carmel Cosmetic and Plastic Surgeons, we are dedicated to helping you achieve the change you have been looking for by attaining your goal of a fuller, more symmetric bustline.
When you meet with your plastic surgeon, you will share your goals of breast augmentation with her. A variety of issues regarding the breast implants themselves will be discussed by your surgeon including the type of implant as well as its shape and size. The procedure including incision site (areolar, inframammary,or axillary) and position of the implants (submuscular or submammary) as well as the risks and benefits of the procedure will be reviewed. Next, you will be examined, measured, and photographed. Before and after pictures of previous patients who underwent breast augmentation are available at the office to look at during your appointment. You will be told what you can expect before, during, and after the procedure. Lastly, a price quote will be given to you at the end of the appointment.
Recovery After Breast Augmentation
The results of your breast augmentaion are immediate. Following your surgery, the breast implants will continue to settle in the next several weeks as the surrounding tissue heals around them. Our doctors may provide you with a support bra to aid in recovery. Some patients may experience swelling and discomfort following the surgery, which can be managed with medication. These symptoms should start to fade after the first few days, and many patients can resume light-to-normal activities in a day or two.
