October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Rise Up! By Carmel Cosmetic and Plastic Surgeons on October 04, 2021

Show every woman that her life is important. Inspire hope and become a force for good to get every woman access to the care she needs. Although we saw setbacks in screenings and early detection due to the pandemic, we must rise to the challenge  and encourage our mothers, our sisters, and our daughters over the age of 40 to get an annual mammogram. Early detection saves lives. Annual mammograms have helped reduce the mortality rate of breast cancer in the U.S. by nearly 40 percent since 1990.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are 250,000 women diagnosed with breast cancer and 42,000 deaths each year in the U.S..  An estimated 12.4% (1 in 8) U.S. women will develop breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. Early detection of breast cancer increases survival. Mammograms are the best way to find breast cancer early. We encourage every woman over 40 to schedule your annual mammogram.

Carmel Cosmetic and Plastic Surgeons recognizes all of our wonderful breast cancer patients and let them know we stand with them in their fight against breast cancer.
