What is Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion treatments are one of our most popular nonsurgical procedures offered here at Carmel Cosmetic and Plastic Surgeons. The Indiana sun can damage skin, causing unsightly age spots and "crow's feet" that make you look older than you actually feel. Microdermabrasion nourishes and repairs skin cells and tissues from the inside out, reduces fine lines and even acne scars.

What is a Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a relaxing, 30 to 60-minute "polishing" process to gradually remove dead, outermost skin cells, bringing plump, healthy skin to the surface. It's relatively painless, requiring no anesthetic. Our aesthetician, Kathy Garrison, will analyze your skin to determine which method of microdermabrasion is appropriate to achieve your desired results.

During this process blackheads are loosened, and enlarged pores from acne scars, as well as fine lines, may be diminished. This gentle abrasion process increases blood circulation, which draws oxygen and nutrients to the surface to nourish and repair your skin's tissue.

Microdermabrasion is safe on all skin types and colors. Depending on the results you desire, we may recommend between five and twelve treatments every two or three weeks. Periodic follow-up treatments will help maintain your results, and an individualized skin care program that our aesthetician, Kathy Garrison, can recommend will maximize those results.
