Live Your Best Life By Adding a Bit of Zen to Your Day By Carmel Cosmetic and Plastic Surgeons on October 02, 2019

A zen-like day is intentional, full of tranquility, and joyful.

When you’re feeling overwhelmed because you have a million things to do, and it seems like there just aren’t enough hours in the day, it’s likely that you’ll decide that the answer is to go faster. However, the solution to overwhelming situations is just the opposite. You should go slower and do less. In other words, what you need to do is look for ways to make your day more zen.

Zen is a form of Buddhism and at its core is seeing one's original mind (or original nature) directly; without the intervention of the intellect.  Zen sends us looking inside ourselves for enlightenment. More commonly though....particularly in the West, Zen is often thought of as synonymous with simplicity, mindfulness, and calm. These are things we can all use more of, don’t you think? Give yourself the gift of a Zen-like day.

Here are some tips for living your best Zen day:

1. Don’t Crowd Your Day

2. Practice Mediatation

3. Slow Down Your Mind

We can train our minds to slow down by doing all of the following:

    Listening to our thoughts.
Slowing down our pace of life.
Doing one thing at a time.
Adopting reflective practices such as yoga or tai chi.

4. Master the Art of Concentration

5. Practice Mindfulness

Make your life more zen by prioritizing, concentrating, being more mindful.  Keep sight of the most important things each day. Make your day more zen by getting the important things done and discarding the rest.

I hope these tips for a Zen-like day can help bring a bit more calm into your very busy and chaotic life.  Embrace the Zen!
