Indianapolis Abdominoplasty or Tummy Tuck Surgery
Tummy Tuck / Abdominoplasty
Overview
Many of us desire a stomach that we do not have to camouflage through loose clothing or a slumped posture. Aging, heredity, pregnancy, surgery, and weight fluctuations can significantly impact the appearance of your abdominal region. Even individuals committed to exercise and a balanced diet might experience a loose, weak, or protruding abdomen that their regimen cannot address. If you are ready for an abdomen that better aligns with your body weight and type, consider a tummy tuck to help you achieve your goals.
What is an Abdominoplasty?
An abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, removes excess skin and fat from the abdomen to help you achieve the flat and toned stomach you desire. The procedure can correct one or more of the following conditions:
- Localized fat
- Loose skin and tissue
- Weakened abdominal muscles
A tummy tuck can focus on the center of the abdomen or address the abdominal region between the ribs and hips, through the sides, and to the back. After surgery, a compression garment will be applied to decrease swelling. A small, thin tube may be temporarily placed under the skin to drain excess blood/fluid. The recovery period from a tummy tuck varies according to the degree of the procedure. Initial wound healing will take approximately 5-10 days. You may return to work and normal activities in a few weeks, so long as you do not engage in any heavy lifting or vigorous exercise. After the initial swelling subsides, you can expect a flatter abdomen that better supports your core and leaves you feeling confident in your body image.
We do not recommend a tummy tuck as a substitute for weight loss or exercise. We also do not recommend a tummy tuck for individuals planning significant future weight loss, or women planning any future pregnancies.
